EMUCC 2022 Day 1 – Let’s Get This Tournament Started

The first day of EMUCC 2022 turned out to be a busy one. The weather was strongly in favour of the players and the games delivered a lot of great plays and highlights. Pola Marsowe once again were filled with the flying discs and a lot of different games to follow. The day required lots of sun screen, a chill atmosphere and way too many smiles.

Open Master summary

The Open category officially started the tournament at 9:30 am. The slightly breezy weather didn’t stop the teams from doing their best. In case of Uprising and Goldfingers the game looked even. However, the switch to zone defence proved to be a good way to stop Uprising’s opponents. Equally interesting were the games of Silence v3.3, which didn’t leave any doubt that they were the front-runners.

It seemed like the game of the day would be the face off between Silence v3.3 and Uprising. The game was physical with a lot of spectacular hucks and sudden changes of posession. In the end, Silence proved they’re ready to give it their all to stay on top. However, we should eagerly await the Sunday game where they are going to play against Hardfisch Masters, who proved to be equally unstoppable on the fields throughout the day.

Mixed Masters summary

The first matches seemed to be warm up games for many teams. They featured a lot of unforced errors. In the game, BEEFIRE played against Korene and took advantage of several mistakes. If you’re looking for a team that aims for good fun at the tournament, you should follow Ameba. They certainly know how to bring a smile and enjoy themselves.

Reading Ultimate proved that they can be the favourites for the podium. They won all their games and the rumour says that they have a Harry Potter stunt man on their team. Heidees seems to be another runner up to watch out for. While playing against Quattro Dumpiaggi they’ve had the game under control. PUC, another team to follow, had a very intense game with BEEFIRE. The end of the game got really heated with lots of calls and ended in favour of PUC. The end of the day had RJP face off Marmota with a thrilling win and a well-deserved pizza afterwards at nearby Przystań bar.

Open Grand Masters summary

It’s not a surprise that Silence v4.0 crashed their opponents and they’re currently at the top of the Grand Masters Pool. Their quick disc movement and chemistry they build up by playing together for more than a decade helped them to score effectivelly. Zimmer was the only team that gave Silence a little challenge and are currently on the second place.
